Maira currently serves as a graduate admissions officer. Maira’s portfolio includes the MA in Peace and Justice Leadership program and the CONTACT Summer Peacebuilding Program. She has worked as a program officer for US Government-sponsored programs such as the Global Undergraduate Program, Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program, and Edmund Muskie Graduate Program at International Research and Exchange Board (IREX), a nonprofit US organization with headquarters in Washington, DC. After half a decade of employment at IREX, she worked at the US Embassy in Astana, Kazakhstan, as the education specialist, overseeing US government exchange programs, supervising five EducationUSA advising centers in Kazakhstan, working closely with the Minister of Education and educational think tanks, and promoting partnerships between US and Kazakhstani educational institutions.
